Gentoo Construction managing the UK’s first large scale development to seek formal PassivHaus accreditation via the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

With 28 revolutionary, low energy homes, utilising the highly efficient, German PassivHaus standard, Gentoo customers who will be living in these homes will feel a number of benefits. 

An excellent environment in terms of air quality, noise and thermal comfort will be complemented by huge financial savings. The annual cost to provide heating and hot water to these homes is estimated to be only £68.

The homes rely on passive solar gain, air tightness and super high standards of insulation, including triple glazed windows. Overall, the building fabric greatly reduces energy consumption (by at least 75% compared to Building Regulations) as well as a reduction in carbon emissions in the region of 80%.
